DONCASTER ACCESS GROUP - DAG

OUR GOAL IS ACCESS FOR ALL
Access Groups have been around since1979 and here at SYCIL we established a group of individual disabled people and representatives of disability organisations and statutory bodies that had a common interest in Access issues.
The group has worked hard over the years focusing on the following main activities:
- Monitoring Planning Applications and commenting on them
- Advising developers on Access matters e.g. Keepmoat Stadium, Finningley Airport
- Advise and consult with the Local Authority on access matters
- Awareness and involvement on National campaigns
- Plus numerous individual concerns dealt with by the Group
The Group has also produced the first Access Guide to Doncaster town centre and a Good Loo guide for the town centre
The aims of the existing Access Group, (please read the section on the A.G.M, for up to date membership) are as follows:
- To improve facilities and services to be as Inclusive as possible for all. This is not just buildings, but the Countryside, transport and access to health.
- To promote awareness of Access problems by delivering training and presentations
- To campaign for improves local Access
- To be a major consultee in all new developments
- To maintain and establish relationships with other local and national Access groups to improve and share knowledge and Best Practice
The Access group encourages new members and would particularly like to hear from young disabled people as it is their future that is at stake.
