LOCAL DISABILITY GROUPS
Part of SYCIL's philosophy is to provide support and opportunities for local disabled people to come together and act collectively around specific issues. We provide:
- Training - to build skills, knowledge and confidence
- Help with funding applications
- An accessible space to meet
- Help organising events and activities
- Practical support, such as booking taxi's and interpreters
- Links to other groups and local voluntary sector support services
If you are interested in starting a new group on a disability related issue please contact Barbara Booton SYCIL's Service Support and Development Director on 01302 892952 Email Barbara
SYCIL currently supports the Doncaster Direct Payments Support Group and the Doncaster Access Group.

Our main aim is to give support and advice to those who receive or provide personal assistance We do this by:
- Sharing our ideas and experiences of employing personal assistants and carers
- Giving each other support and advice
- Working closely with the DMBC Independent Living Team and Direct Payments Support Service to ensure service users views and experiences influence future service provision
- Helping to promote Direct Payments as a way of having more choice and control over our lives
- Organising events and workshops
